Vinyl Me Please is Shutting It's Doors

It appears that Vinyl Me, Please (VMP) is facing significant difficulties and has entered liquidation. Here's a breakdown of what's happening:

  • Liquidation: On April 4, 2025, Vinyl Me, Please commenced an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (ABC).This is an alternative to Chapter 7 bankruptcy where the company transfers its assets to an assignee (Vinyl Liquidators LLC in this case) to be liquidated and the proceeds distributed to creditors.

  • Customer Complaints: For months leading up to this, numerous subscribers reported unfulfilled orders, lack of refunds, and unresponsive customer service. Some claim to be owed significant amounts of money.

  • No More ROTMs: In February 2025, VMP announced a significant change to its subscription model, discontinuing the monthly "Record of the Month" (ROTM) releases as they were known.

  • Lawsuit and Executive Firings: In March 2024, VMP's board of directors fired its CEO, CFO, and CSO, alleging they misused company funds to start their own vinyl pressing plant.

  • Claims for Creditors: Customers with unfulfilled orders or subscriptions are considered creditors and must file a proof of claim with Vinyl Liquidators LLC by October 1, 2025, to be considered for compensation from the liquidation proceeds. The case number is 2504VINY108, and claims can be filed at www.resolutionfa.com.

  • Sale of Business Possible: VMP's statement indicates that the assignee is trying to sell the business, and the buyer may attempt to resolve outstanding orders. The sale process is expected to conclude by mid-May 2025.

In short, Vinyl Me, Please is undergoing a process to liquidate its assets to pay its creditors, primarily its disgruntled customers who have been left with unfulfilled orders and subscriptions. The future of the VMP brand is uncertain, but there's a possibility a buyer might try to revive some aspects of the business.
